Scanno (Scanne in Abruzzo) is an Italian town of 1,883 inhabitants located in the province of Aquila, in the Abruzzo region. The municipality, surrounded by Marsicani Monti, is partly comprised within the boundaries of the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, and in turn is part of the Mountain Community Peligna.

It is an important station of winter and summer resort and is part of the club's most beautiful towns in Italy. Nearby there are the lake of the same name, belonging, however, three-quarters of the town of Villalago, the ski resorts of Passo Godi and Monte Rotondo, the highlands of Mount Greek and Lake Pantaniello, as well as the nature reserve of the Sagittarius Gole.

Scanno is also known as the City of photographers; a popular place for many Italian and foreign authors. His unmistakable glimpses and its people have been throughout the twentieth century the subject of so many famous shots taken by Hilde Lotz-Bauer, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Mario Giacomelli, Renzo Tortelli, Gianni Berengo Gardin, Ferdinando Scianna and many others. In 1964, it was a photograph taken in Scanno by Mario Giacomelli, to become part of the prestigious collection of photographic works of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This is known as The Scanno child, or Scanno Boy.

Scanno can be reached from Pescara, L'Aquila and Rome via the A25 motorway exit of Cocullo and State Road 479 Sannite dating back to the Sagittarius Gole through Anversa degli Abruzzi and Villalago.
